Dean Long 
Chief Executive Officer

Dean is a Public Policy professional with over a decade of experience providing advice to Governments around Australia and the business sectors with a focus on delivering advocacy outcomes that are mutually beneficial. Throughout his career Dean has created and maintained strong and trusted relationships across the political, private and public sectors.

Dean was appointed the CEO of the Accommodation Association of Australia in June 2019 following roles as a Senior Adviser in the NSW Government, Head of Public Policy for the Australian Federation of Travel Agents and the National Manager of Government Acquisition (merchant services) for American Express. Dean has successfully led industry responses to regulatory changes across financial services, taxation, consumer affairs, immigration and planning. Dean holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, Environmental Management and Tourism from Western Sydney University and Masters of Management from the University of Technology Sydney.

Laura Younger
General Manager - Queensland

Laura has a business background in membership organisations in Australia and Britain. Laura has a Master of Business administration from Griffith University and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Southern Queensland and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Laura is the Chair of the Surfers Paradise Alliance; Board member and Chair of the QTIC Associations Council and Deputy President of the Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce.


Michelle King
National Membership Manager

Michelle has enjoyed a successful career in the hotel industry having previously held the positions of Director of Sales and Marketing – Royce Hotel, National Sales Manager – Sundowner Motor Inns and Southern Region Sales Manager for both the Constellation Hotels and Choice Hotels Australasia groups. She also worked in the UK for Hertz UK as a National Account Manager, and as a vocational trainer in the business and tourism faculty.  More recently Michelle work within Tourism Accommodation Australia (Victoria) as the Executive Officer. 

Her current role at Accommodation Association of Australia as the National Membership Manager is responsible for growing membership, sourcing sponsorship opportunities and servicing the needs of the accommodation members across Australia.


Noel Teskey
Senior Workplace Relations Consultant

Noel joined the Workplace Relations team in October 2006 and brought with him a wealth of management knowledge and experience.  Previously, Noel managed large and small enterprises, and owned and operated a number of small businesses. 

He provides members with pragmatic advice on a wide range of workplace relations matters, including award interpretations, workplace agreements, workplace health & safety, workers’ compensation legislation, dispute resolution and employers’ superannuation contributions.   He undertakes compliance audits, and conducts seminars and workshops throughout Australia. 

Noel holds a business degree majoring in Accountancy and Marketing, and a graduate certificate in HRM, majoring in Industrial Relations.


Carol Giuseppi 
National General Manager Operations/NSW

Carol is a senior business professional, with a strong stakeholder management, advocacy and strategic business background. Since commencing her career at British Airways, she has held senior positions within the tourism and hospitality sector inclusive at Southern Pacific Hotels, Fox Studios, Sydney Olympic Park Authority and Tourism Accommodation Australia, as well as outside the sector with American Express and Amber Group.

Carol has an Executive MBA, a Masters of Business (Marketing), a Bachelor of Science and a Diploma of Market Research.  She is also a graduate of the Institute of Company Directors. In her current position her role encompasses policy, advocacy and member services.

She has been a director on the board of HTN (Hospitality Employment Solutions), on the Tourism Advisory Board of Service Skills Australia and on the CatholicCare Foundations Board.


Troy Schufft
The Academy Director

With over 15 years experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, Troy brings a wealth of experience to the AAoA Academy for the learning and development outcomes for the industry. Troy has vast experience in all sectors of the VET sector which enables the Academy to give sound advice and expertise to AAoA members on training and potential Government funding opportunities.

Troy’s role is to work closely with the members to provide sound learning and development advice and connect recommended training provider from pre employment programs through to advanced Diploma’s. Based on Troy’s experience combined with industry consultation and engagement, he is able to drive quality training outcomes for members and employee’s through the Academy.
